'Otje' tells the story about the eight-year-old Otje and her waspish father Tos. They live at the attick of the almost bankrupt hotel 'De Koperwiek', where Tos works as a cook. Otje is a boyish girl that loves to play outside. She has got a secret tree-house and is friends with Betsy the cat, Boef the dog and all the birds in the forrest. Tos is a littlebit sceptic about Otje's friendships with the animals and doesn't believe that she has conversations with those animals.
During the episodes Otje and her father Tos experience a lot of adventures. Because of these adventures they have to leave their 'attick appartment' in the Koperwiek, the place where Otje loves to live.
In the end everything turns out good for her. She and her father can return to the hotel, because her father could buy the hotel. Now she can live her live just as before, playing outside with her animal friends!
