Winky's Horse

Six-year old Winky Wong just moved to a small seaside resort, where her parents have a Chinese restaurant, when she meets Auntie Cor and Uncle Siem who have a pony. Winky's mother doesn't want Winky to get involved with strangers, but she ignores her wishes. Auntie Cor and her husband teach Winky how to ride Sara until this pony becomes too old and dies. Winky would like a horse of her own. But that seems to be a dream that will never come true. At school, Winky learns about Sinterklaas: a very old man with a beard who, on his birthday, the fifth of December, gives presents to children. Winky's father thinks Sinterklaas doesn't exist and he's certain that Sinterklaas will never give her a horse. Winky decides not to bother with her father. He doesn't know anything about Holland anyway. She decides to involve Sinterklaas in her wish. Winky is disappointed when she receives a toy from Sinterklaas at school. When she sees a real white horse tethered to her bike, Winky rides the horse to her house. Only it is not a present for Winky, it is Sinterklaas' horse. It appears to be a misunderstanding, but at Auntie Cor's house Winky gets the best present ever!
